John Solmonese

President

John Solmonese launched Solmonese Search Partners in October 2020, following a 15-year career with Isaacson, Miller (IM), the nation’s largest diversified retained executive search firm focused exclusively on the nonprofit sector.  As a managing associate and later principal within IM’s advancement practice, he was actively involved in all aspects of the search process from research to qualification and the final selection of candidates.  John focused on development searches across multiple segments from higher education to healthcare to social service agencies. 

Select clients include: Spelman College, Vanderbilt University, the Broad Institute, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, USA Hockey, United Way of Greater Atlanta, the Barnes Foundation, the University of Rochester Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital.  In addition, John participated in numerous searches for chief alumni relations officers with clients including: Amherst College, Dartmouth College, Syracuse University, the University of Connecticut, University of Maryland, and University of Rochester. John brought extensive knowledge of the advancement field when he entered into executive search. Prior to joining Isaacson, Miller, he spent 15 years in Resource Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During his tenure, John prepared development-related research for MIT’s senior administration, volunteers, and Resource Development staff members. He assisted in the strategic planning of several new fundraising initiatives for the School of Engineering; the Department of Physics; the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation; and the Office of the Dean for Student Life and Learning. He also worked closely with the Vice President for Resource Development in her efforts to expand MIT’s presence in Europe.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Boston University and a Master of Arts degree in American Studies from Columbia University.
